North Carolina artist Talena Chavis employs various techniques in her paintings including: sgraffito, impasto, texturing and washes. Her mediums include acrylics, gouache, chalk, soft pastels, oil pastels and watercolors. She feels that her Hungarian and Native American ancestry influence the unfettered nature of her work as well as her bold use of color.
Talena also has an unusual job: she’s a snake catcher! Yes, you read that right. As a Certified Wildlife Damage Control Agent Talena humanely (and safely) captures venomous and non- venomous snakes and removes them.
She was recently featured in the News and Observer and interviewed by ABC11 News regarding copperheads. In addition to removal, Talena offers a FREE snake identification service by text.
